I am currently part of a group working on:
a Dutch translation of the extant works of Aretaeus the Cappadocian.
Aretaeus was a medical author, contemporary with
Galen (c.AD 150-200). His extant works dealt
with the causes and symptoms and the cure of acute and chronic diseases.
My fellow translators are Manfred Horstmanshoff as chief editor, Hans Haak, Maria Wester and
Cornelis van Tilburg. The translation in preparation, however, was originally the work of
late internist Theo van de Wiel.
Once finished, the translation will appear at
Uitgeverij Damon.
Before too long I hope to be part of a group editing:
a Dutch translation of the most relevant works of the Corpus Hippocraticum. This is the collectionof medical writings by various authors, owing its name to the famous physician Hippocrates,
born c. 460 BC on the island of Cos. The works of the Corpus were written mostly
between 430 and 350 BC.
My associates will be Manfred Horstmanshoff as chief editor, Maria Wester and Cornelis van Tilburg.
The translation is originally the work of the Belgian classicist Luc De Paep.
